Pondy law and order situation reviewed
Puducherry, May 31 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Bhopinder Singh has reviewed the law and order situation in the Union Territory at a high-level meeting here yesterday.
Mr S Kumarasamy, Secretary to the Lt Governor, in a relese here, said discussions were held to evolve methods to improve the law and order situation. The Lt Governor had directed the police department to take proactive measures to avoid law and order problems.
Directions were issued to fill up vacancies and ensure that people's welfare programmes did not suffer due to lack of adequate staff. Officials were impressed upon that files relating to important projects and schemes should be processed without delay.
Revenue matters pertaining to land grabbing, removal of encroachments, sand mining, hoardings and general administrative matters were also discussed and Mr Singh directed the officers to ensure that the offices under their control functioned effectively and efficiently.
Chief Minister N Rangasamy, his Cabinet colleagues and senior officials of the administration took part in the meeting.
