Tripura to set up Crime Control Squad

Agartala, May 26: With a spurt in mafia activities in Tripura, the government has decided to set up a Crime Control Squad (CCS) to tackle the situation. Sources at the Home department said Deputy Superintendent of Police officers under the supervision of seven senior officers of Delhi and Mumbai police would be a part of the team.

According to officials, the department has already trained 16 DSPs in Punjab, who would be appointed in CCS, while special investigation team would be pressed into action against criminals and their supporters at both political and government level.

As many as 26 murder cases, including that of a sitting MLA, has been recorded in the past few years in the state, police informed adding that cross-border criminals were involved in the crime in connivance with some political parties.
