Jaat mahasabha to support candidates favouring Jaat reservation
New Delhi, May 15 (UNI) The All India Jaat Mahasabha, which has a considerable clout in rural areas, has decided to support only those candidates who will openly commit themselves to work for reservation for 'Jaats' in jobs in the coming by-elections in three assembly segments- Gohana(Sonepat), Indri (Karnal) and Adampur (Hissar).
Jaat Mahasabha's leader Tara Chand 'Mor'who is also the convenor of Haryana Jaat Aakarshan Sangharsh Samiti today said in the successive elections to state assembly, political parties and several leaders favoured reservation for 'Jaats' but forgot their pious promises thereafter.
"And, now we have decided to secure public commitments on the issue", he added.
Mr Mor reminded that reservation to their community members had already been given in Rajasthan, a state adjacent to Haryana while both shared the same 'Jaat' population.
However, Mr Mor criticised Mr Bhajan Lal, the former Chief Minister of Haryana for cancelling reservation for 'Jaats' in jobs in the state after coming to power in 1991.
Reservation in jobs was provided to 'Jaats' by Late Chuadhary Devi Lal in his capacity as the Chief Minister of the State, he added.
