Newly-appointed Indian envoy meets Koirala
Kathmandu, Apr 26 (UNI) Newly-appointed Indian ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at his official residence in Baluwatar today and discussed the latest political situation in the Himalayan nation.
Mr Sood has yet to present the letter of credence to the Prime Minister, who is also the head of state.
During the meeting, Mr Sood congratulated PM Koirala for holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election successfully.
Mr Koirala and Mr Sood also discussed bilateral relations between the two countries during the meeting.
The ambassador reiterated that India would continue its support to Nepal in future.
He also met Nepali Congress senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba this morning and discussed the latest political development in the country.
Ambassador Sood is scheduled to meet various leaders before presenting the letter of credence to the prime minister within a few days.
The newly-appointed Indian ambassador arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday following the completion of tenure of Mr Shiv Shankar Mukherjee, who has been appointed Indian High Comissioner in London.
