Union Cabinet approves the transfer of defence land to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan

New Delhi, Apr 11 : The Union Cabinet today approved the transfer of defence land to the following four places:

(i) Transfer of 6.48 acres of defence land on lease, at a nominal rent of Re.1 per annum for an initial period of 30 years and would be renewed up to 30 years each, to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to run and operate the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Dappar Military Station, in Patiala District of Punjab.

This will benefit the defence personnel's children studying at Kendriya Vidyalya, Dappar Military Station since there is no other school in the vicinity.

(ii) Transfer of 76 Kanals and 04 Marlas (9.256 acres) of defence land in Village Bandral Kalan, Tehsil Akhnoor, in the Jammu on lease at a nominal rent of Re.1 per annum for an initial period for 30 years, renewable up to two like terms of 30 years each, to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to run and operate the Kendirya Vidyalaya No.2 in Bandral Kalan Village of Akhnoor Tehsil in Jammu.

This will benefit the children of defence personnel studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Akhnoor.

(iii) Transfer of 13.56 acres of defence land on lease hold basis at a nominal rent of Re-1 per annum for an initial period of 30 years, renewable up to two like terms of 30 years each and 11 buildings to the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to run and operate the school. The book value of the buildings amounting to Rs.6,98,986 would be paid by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. In case of demolition, the KVS would also pay the book value less the net proceeds accruing out of disposal/demolition in accordance with MES regulations.

This would benefit the children of defence personnel studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharamshala, Tehsil and District. Kangra in Himachal Pradesh, since there is no other school in the vicinity.

(iv) Transfer of 4.929 acres of defence land on lease hold basis at a nominal rent of Re.1 per annum for an initial period of 30 years, renewable up to two like terms of 30 years each to Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to construct the Kendriya Vidyalya at Kalimpong in the Darjeeling District of West Bengal.

This would benefit children of defence personnel studying at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kalimpong since there is no other school in the vicinity.
