Arunachal to acquire land for railway projects
Itanagar, Apr 11 (UNI) To include Arunachal Pradesh in the railway map of the country, the state government has given a nod for land acquisition for various railway projects.
Official sources here today said the proposed rail line from Harmutty in Assam's Lakhimpur district would run from Gumto and touch Emchi, Doimukh, Yupia, Tarajuli, Borum and Sood (all in Papum Pare district) before culminating in Model village, Naharlagun.
Though the project was initiated a decade ago, the proposal had not progressed much following technical problems.
However, during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's recent visit to the state, the railway ministry had asked the state to expedite the process of land acquisition so that the project could be completed by 2010.
The state government on April four had issued a notice for acquiring 109.815 hectares of land along the 12.91 km line from Harmutty to Naharlagun.
A team of officials from the NF Railways, Rangia met Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Bidol Tayeng, who assured to complete the land acquisition process as early as possible.
However, a joint survey of he area is scheduled on May 13, sources disclosed.
Mr Tayeng, meanwhile, has asked the people, whose land falls under the proposed projects, to provide a document supporting their claim within 90 days after which it would not be entertained.
