Bangkok, Apr 8: Thai authorities detained an Indian passenger onboard a Bangladeshi airline flight which made an emergency landing in Bangkok today. A Thai newspaper reported that Indian national Hasan Ali, 40, was detained.
The Indian Embassy in Bangkok was still awaiting information from Thai authorities on the incident. The pilots of the flight carrying about 60 passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka requested permission for an emergency landing this morning while flying over Thailand. According to initial reports, this was in response to an attempt at hijacking the aircraft. However, subsequent reports said the Indian passenger had threatened another with a knife during an altercation and was detained when the flight landed in Bangkok.
