Hyderabad, Mar 30: Andhra Pradesh Kapunadu president P Venkateswara Rao today demanded that the state government include Kapu, Talaga, Balija communities in the Backward Classes within six months.

Addressing a press conference here, he also demanded a constitution for a commission to study the demands of the Kapunadu commmunity, before April 10 as agreed upon by the government.

The government should set a time frame of two months for the commission to submit its report, instead of the proposed six months, he said.

He alleged that though the Congress had promised in their 2004 election manifesto that Kapunadu would be included in the BC list, the Congress Government had not taken any steps during the last four years.

He said majority of the 'Kapu community' in the state had extended their full support to the Congress in the election.

The community would launch an indefinite strike from April 20 or April 25, if the government failed to appoint a commission before April 10.

The AICC president Sonia Gandhi had written a letter to the State Government to look into the demands of the 'Kapus' after the community leaders met her in Delhi, he claimed.
