220 litres of Kerosene oil seized in Kashmir
Srinagar Mar 24 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today seized 220 litres of kerosene oil which was being sold in black-market in the frontier district of Kupwara.
Superintendent of Police (SP), Handwara, Dr Haseeb Mughal said a specific information was received regarding illegal sale of kerosene oil by some people.
He said a special team headed by SDPO Ghulam Jeelani was constituted and a raid was conducted at village Yansoo on Sopore- Handwara road today.
During the raid, a water-tanker driver Muhammad Ashraf Bhat a resident of Singpora, Baramulla, was apprehended after 220 Litres of kerosene oil kept in eight plastic cans was recovered.
However, the driver managed to escape, he said adding a massive hunt has been launched to arrest him.
He said a case under Section 3/7 of Essential Commodities Act has been registered in Handwara Police Station.
