Dehra Dun, Mar 10 (UNI) Opposition Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislators today held a mock Question Hour session outside the main gate of the Uttarakhand Assembly with effigies of the Chief Minister and his partymen in attendance.
At around 1100 hrs, when State Assembly Speaker Harbans Kapur initiated the Question Hour, the boycotting opposition headed towards the main gate of the Legislative Assembly and arranged tables and chairs to start parallel proceedings.
BSP leader Narayan Pal acted as the mock Assembly Speaker while Congress's Kuwar Pranav Singh acted as the Chief Minister.
Leader of the Opposition Harak Singh Rawat, attending the mock Question Hour, questioned the government's stance on issuing of caste certificates and said its ''achievements'' in the past one year which were published in numerous advertisements were nothing short of ''misleading the people''.
He said the Opposition was forced to resort to a boycott as the Constitutional right to question the government on the people's grievances was being curtailed.
The proceedings carried on till 1200 hrs.
