Lashkar ultra, OGWs arrested with arms in Doda

Jammu, Mar 2 (UNI) Security forces today arrested five Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and one militant of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit along with arms and ammunition recovered from their possession in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here said.

On specific information, police laid down a trap on the outskirts of the district. ''During checking, one Tata Sumo, which was on its way from Qazi Kund to Doda was intercepted. Two AK rifles, one AK magazine and 30 rounds were recovered from the possession of the OGWs traveling in the vehicle,'' the sources told UNI.

''During preliminary investigation, the OGWs revealed that the consignment of arms was to be delivered to LeT Divisional Commander Shabir Itoo code Abu Yasir, which was handed over to them by Zakir Hussain resident of Manthori, who was an active militant in 2001 and after he was bailed out, he again became active in the area,'' sources said.

However, one of the OGWs also said few months back, a cash consignment of Rs 2 lakh was delivered to Abu Yasir LeT Commander and Mohammad Iqbal, LeT Operational Commander, sources said.

The OGWs have been identified as Abdul Kabir, Rafiqa Begum, Mohd Hanief, all residents of Kishtwar, Mohd Amin, Rubeena Begum, residents of Bergam Qazi Kund while LeT ultra Zakir Hussain has also been arrested by the police, they said.
