Gold ends at an all-time high of Rs 12,230 per ten gm

Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Gold zoomed to a historic high of Rs 12,230 today, breaking all previous records at the Bullion market, as it continued its upward march for the third consecutive day, rising by Rs 30 per ten gms, on persistent buying from stockists, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association (BBA) said.

Silver closed at Rs 22,540, easing by Rs 15 per kg, traders added.

Standard gold (99.5 purity) opened high at Rs 12,235 per ten gm and pure gold (99.9 variety) at Rs 12,290 per ten gm on fresh demand from local dealers.

Later, standard and pure gold eased and closed at Rs 12,230 and Rs 12,285 respectively, edging up by Rs 30 each from their last close.

Gold has glittered by Rs 580 in last three days.

Silver (.999 fineness) variety resumed up at Rs 22,610 per kg on fresh demand. Later, it dipped and closed at Rs 22,540 per kg down by Rs 15 from its last close.

Traders received reports from London and other asian markets that the yellow metal was quoted around USD at 944.25/944.00 per troy ounce from its last finish, while the white metal was at USD 17.78/17.80 from its last close, dealers added.

Following are the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade: Rs 22,540 (22,555) Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity: Rs 12,230 (12,200) Pure gold 99.9 purity: Rs 12,285 (12,255).
