Adventure and water sports tourism to be promoted in HP: Nanda
Shimla, Feb 21 (UNI) Keeping in view the termendous tourism potential of Himachal Pradesh, the department of Tourism and Civil Aviation will promote adventure and water sports tourism in a phased manner.
This was informed at the review meeting, which was chaired by the Secretary tourism, Manisha Nanda.
She direced the departmental officers to complete all the on-going works approved under circuit/destination schemes of the Centre within stipulated period so that these facilities could be made available to the tourists.
The department would start the inspection dirve to check the unregistered hotel units and guest houses, she added.
Speaking on the occasion Tourism Commissioner Ram Subhag Singh said from this summer season, panchkarama would be started at Hotel Holiday Home, Shimla and by July-August end, facilities related with Panchkarma would be created at Jogindernagar and at Dharamshala.
In the meeting, it was decided that basic amenities like tiolets and signages will be installed at all the entry points of the state and in the state and national highways.
Modern signages with tourist information will also be placed at all prominent tourist places of the state, besides sign boards carrying infromation of historical places like Kangra Fort and temples would be put up in and around the shrines, visited by the tourists.
