Govt hospitals in TN dist to be upgraded: Raja

Perambalur (Tamil Nadu), Feb 18: All government hospitals in this district will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 21.20 crore while the district headquarters hospital will be shifted to a spacious campus soon, Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology A Raja said.

Speaking at a function here yesterday, Mr Raja said the district headquarters hospital would be shifted to a 17-acre site at Kaulpalayam on which a Rs 2.75 crore modern building would be constructed.

The World Bank had allocated Rs 12.20 crore for upgrading the hospitals in the integrated Perambalur district (including the newly carved out Ariyalur district) with the Tata foundation chipping in with Rs 9 crore.

Mr Raja also said Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was very keen on starting a medical college here.
