TNT founder earns doctorate degree
Aizawl, Feb 15(UNI) Aizawl-based Thutak Nunpuitu Team (TNT) founder Sangthankima is to be conferred honorarium doctorate degree by Rangoon's Methodist Bible College in recognition of his humanitarian services to thousands of helpless fellows.
The college is celebrating its tenth anniversary on February 24 and the degree (humanitarian letter) will be conferred to him on the occasion, said a source today.
The degree is in honour of Sangthankima's Mother Teresa-style services to the destitute people and orphans by giving them shelters and food.
Inmates of TNT centres include drug and alcohol addicts, prostitutes, orphans and mentally-challenged people. Apart from the main centre at Zuangtui here which houses about 700-800 such people, TNT has set up centres at Champhai, Lunglei and Kolasib.
Sangthankima is said to be the first not only in India but in the entire Asia continent to receive such a prestigious degree from the Methodist college.
