Constable arrested while accepting bribe
Bangalore, Feb 11 (UNI) A Police constable was arrested by Lokayukta sleuths on the charges of accepting bribe at Huyilgol in Gadag District of Karnataka today.
Acting on a complaint by Shiddappa, Lokayukta officials laid trap and caught red handed D M Kattimani, who along with his colleagues PSI N N Ambiger and Driver R N Sanganal had demanded Rs 15,000 for 'not booking' a case of kidnap. The complainant was actually giving a drop to his relative Neelamma, while riding his friend's motor cycle, but police threatened to book a kidnap case against him.
The deal was struck at Rs 5,000, Mr Siddappa could manage only Rs 1500 and handed it over to Kattimani who was immediately caught.
He was later produced before the Court.
Efforts were made to apprehend the PSI and the driver who escaped in a departmental jeep, a Lokayukta release said.
