1100 crore for giving ''new look'' to grain markets-Langah
Rupnagar, Feb 8 (UNI) Punjab Minister for Agriculture Sucha Singh Langah today said that the grain markets of the state were being given a ''new look'' as the cost of Rs 1100 crore.
While talking to media persons here, the minister said that new floors would be constructed in the grain markets and various other facilities would be provided to the farmers there.
Besides, a cold store would be constructed at Ludhiana grain market, he added.
He said that his department had started various schemes for the farmers and various subsidies were being provided to them.
He said the 75 per cent subsidy would be provided for the drip irrigation system and farmers opting for this system would be given tube well connection within 15 days.
He also said that a march would be taken out from Talwandi Sabo to Moga from February 20 to 22 to create awareness among the farmers about various schemes of the Agriculture department.
Mr Langah said he would lead the march in which senior officers and scientists of the department would also participate.
