Narsinghpur, MP, Feb 3 (UNI) Narsinghpur legislator Jalam Singh Patel and his bodyguard were injured when they were attacked by a few people with rods near toll tax barrier at Kareli area in this district last night, police said today.
Mr Patel was going to meet management of Kareli sugar mill to discuss problems of sugarcane growers. When his car halted near the barrier, some people first attacked his bodyguard Rajendra Shukla and later Mr Patel himself. Both were admitted to a private hospital.
Mr Patel received injuries to his hand, feet and fingers. He received eight stitches.
A case was registered against seven people in this regard.
Meanwhile, Mr Patel's supporters called a bandh and partial response was seen in Kareli and Gotegaon area.
Mr Patel has been suspended from the BJP on the charge of anti-party activities. Mr Patel is brother Uma of Bharti-led Bharatiya Janshakti's former General Secretary Prahlad Patel and is said to be close to the BJ.
