Mithi hails settig up of tsunami warning system

Puducherry, Jan 24 (UNI) Puducherry Lt Governor Mukut Mithi today hailed setting up of 'tsunami early warning system' by the Pondicherry Multipurpose Social Service Society (PMSSS) in 20 fishermen villages here.

Inaugurating a new complex of the PMSSS here, Mr Mithi lauded the society's efforts in rehabilitating about 440 tsunami-hit fishermen families in the Karaikal region and 50 families in Puducherry.

The Lt Governor also distributed loans sanctioned by the State Bank of India to about 50 Self-Help Groups.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy said the administration would allocate more funds to redress the grievences of government school teachers.
