Youth strangles friend for lady love

Agra, Jan 12: A lovelorn youth allegedly kidnapped and strangled his friend in a Triangular love affair. Police arrested six accused in this connection last evening.

Shekhar Pathak, a BSc 1st year student, had a heated argument with his friend Arvind reportedly over Mamta Tomar, who was their common friend.

On December 16, Arvind took Shekhar to Ferozabad and kept him in captivity under Nagla Sindhi area. He later demanded Rs 40 lakh as ransom from Shekhar's parents.

On December 26, he and his aides strangled Shekhar and buried his body on the banks of river Yamuna.

They, however, continued with their demand for ransom shrinking the amount to Rs 25 lakh, senior superintendent of police Navin Arora said today.

Two of the accused were nabbed through electronic surveillance yesterday and Shekhar's body was recovered.

Later, police arrested Vikram Parihar, Ram Suresh, Ajay Pratap and Mamta Tomar in the case.

However, Arvind and his four aides were still absconding.
