MP Govt failed on all fronts: Brinda Karat
Bhopal, Jan 11 (UNI) CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Brinda Karat today said the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh government had failed on all fronts, including protecting the welfare of weaker sections of society.
Ms Karat said she had solid figures about thousands of farmers committing suicide in the state last year.
''Corruption-related cases have been registered against more than 1,300 dalit women sarpachs, while power theft cases had been registered against more than 80,000 agriculturists,'' Ms Karat told mediapersons here.
Referring to 'padyatras' taken out by the party in various teams from Rewa on December 9, 2007, she said weaker sections had been neglected by the BJP Government.
The CPI(MP) leader said during their recent visit, some party leaders found that tribals were being removed from their land in the name of tree plantation in Ratlam. She described displacing tribals as inappropriate in view of implementation of the Forest Right Act.
