Army exhibition enthralls spectators in Ambala
Ambala, Jan 5 (UNI) As part of a series of 'Know Your Army Exhibitions' that the Western Command proposes to hold at different locations on the occasion of Army Day 2008, the first such exhibition began at Ambala today.
While the massive display of the military might of the Indian Army at the Convoy Ground here enthralled the spectators, the students, who turned in large numbers despite an over cast sky and dense fog, were particularly fascinated to see the hi-tech equipment and the weapon systems being used by the army.
Inaugurating the two-day exhibition, GOC Kharga Corps, Lt Gen V K Singh, stated that the objective of the exhibition was to showcase the state-of-the-art equipment that the Indian army possesses and to create awarness about involvement of the army in nation-building and its contribution towards peace and stability.
The exhibition also aims at motivating the youth of the country to join army, he added.
On display were T-72, BMP, T-90 tanks, the Bofors gun, air defence gun, rocket grad launcher, radars and advanced communication systems. Besides the equipment on show, an impressive aerial display by army helicopters and skydivers kept the visitors spellbound.
Parasailing, aero-modeling, an army dog show and a colourful military band display kept everyone glued to their seats.
