LIC Thanjavur division records sale of 3.31 lakh policies

Thanjavur
division
of
the
Life
Insurance
Corporation
of
India
(LIC)
has
sold
3.31
lakh
policies
during
current
fiscal,
with
a
first
premium
income
of
Rs
422.79
crore.
Speaking at the launch of a satellite branch here yesterday, LIC Thanjavur divisional manager K Rajivan Nair said the division, which had 27 branches spread over eight revenue districts and Union Territory of Puducherry, settled 48,181 maturity and survival benefit claims, disbursing Rs 91.93 crore and 3,404 death claims to the tune of Rs 113.67 crore.
He said the opening of the satellite branch would be beneficial to the customers and the agents in and around Jayankondam by way of easy access for payment of premium and for making enquiries regarding their policies.
Mr Nair said the Thanjavur branch of the Tiruchirapalli district topped the division in the number of policies and first premium income collected under single premium.
The Pudukkottai branch achieved the top rank in the volume of first premium income generated under non-single premium, he added.
