Tirunelveli, Dec 15 (UNI) DMK Deputy General Secretary and Local Administration Minsiter M K Stalin today refused to comment that the youth wing state conference was being arranged to enable him to take up the reigns of the party.
''I do not want to reply to speculations'', he said, talking to newspersons after opening of the conference this morning.
Answering a question, he said the conference would make a ''thiruppu munai'' (turning point) for the youth. All the DMK conferences would have something special for the youth and this conference, being organised by the youth wing, would definitely make a turning point for them.
As the conference focussed on youth, resolutions, promising employment to unemployed youths and graduates would be adopted, he said.
Asked whether youth would be given prominence in the party after the conference, he said youths have already taken prime positions in the party.
Mr Stalin said more than 50 per cent of the elected representatives in the local bodies were youth. In the state cabinet also, there were many youngsters like him, he added.
