Bangalore, Dec 8: A four-day third International Conference on e-Science and Grid Computing enlisting leading interdisciplinary research communities, developers and users of e-Science and enabling IT technologies will begin here on December 10.
Indian Space Research Organisation Chairman and Space Department Secretary G Madhavan Nair will inaugurate the conference and the valedictory address would be delivered by Union Minister of State for Planning M V Rajsekharan on December 14.
Department of Information Technology Advisor A K Chakravarti, Indian Institute of Science Associate Director Prof N Balakrishnan, Prof Geoffery Fox of Indiana University and Prof Thomas Fahringer of Innstruck University would be present as guests of honour during the Inaugural.
According to a release issued by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), hosts of the conference, distinguished speakers representing Europe and Asia would be delivering their addresses during the conference.
The conference programme comprised keynote talks, peer-reviewed research papers, industry track and research demo section.
C-DAC Director General S Ramakrishnan said the field was a 'hot and evolving' one and had the potential to fundamentally influence how science and collaboration cutting across nations and disciplines was conducted in future.
It would also contribute significantly in evolving a eco system for next generation grid and web technologies, he explained.
Previous conferences in this series were organised in Melbourne, Australia (2005) and Amsterdam, Netherlands (2006), the release added.
