AIIMS administration issues notices to 50 medicos
New Delhi, Nov 30: The AIIMS administration today issued notices to 50 doctors, asking them to explain their absence during duty hours on Nov 29.
The resident doctors withdrew their strike yesterday after the Delhi High Court passed strictures on them, warning of deducting their salaries and revoking their licenses in case patients suffered due to their work halt.
The doctors and employees of the premier health institute went on strike to protest the government's ratification of the controversial AIIMS Bill, fixing the age of retirement of the premier institute's director at 65 -- which Dr Venugopal challenged in the apex court yesterday.
His petition will come up for hearing on December 3.
Resident Doctors' Association president Kumar Harsh said the introduction of the Bill in Parliament was an attempt by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss to oust Dr Venugopal, who have been long locked in a running feud.
