TRS weakening Telangana movement by praising Nizam rule: BJP
Hyderabad, Nov 27 (UNI) The BJP in Andhra Pradesh today contended that Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) President K Chandrasekar Rao was doing a ''great disservice'' to the Telangana movement by eulogising the ''autocratic'' rule of the Nizams.
The Telangana people still remember the massacre by the Razakaars during the Nizam rule and the TRS was only instilling fear among the people by showering encomiums on the Nizams, Former Union Minister of State for Home and BJP Telangana Udhima Commitee Chairman Ch Vidyasagar Rao said at a press conference here.
The TRS leader, while paying tributes to seventh Nizam ruler of the Hyderabad princely state Mir Osman Ali Khan on his 40th death anniversary yesterday, had said ''the Nizam rulers had rendered yeomen services to the backward Telangana region.'' The TRS could not win over the secular Muslims of Hyderabad by describing the Nizam rule as a golden period, the BJP leader contended, adding, ''people will not forget the atrocities committed by the Razakaars.'' Referring to a report submitted by the State Assembly House Committee, headed by Congress legislator G Venkata Reddy, in 1991, he demanded that the present Congress Government take over the Nizams' property worth lakhs of crores of rupees, including the Faluknama palace.
