4 Chennaiites receive Australia-India Council Award

Chennai, Nov 23 (UNI) Four outstanding personalities from Chennai have been presented with Australia-India Council Special Award for their exceptional contribution towards strengthening relation between Australia and India.

The awards were presented to Professor C T Indra (Education), K M Mammen (Business and Sports), K V Mathew (Bilateral Relations) and Sister Mary Theodore (Community Service), an Australian High Commission release said here today.

The awards, an initiative of the Australia-India Council (AIC), were presented at a ceremony held in Chennai.

AIC Chairman and former Australian High Commissioner to India, Darren Gribble, and Australian Consul General to Chennai, Aminur Rahman presented the awards.

AIC Special Awards were earlier presented to nine luminaries, selected from Business, Science, Arts, Heritage, Education and Sports fields, in New Delhi, the release added.
