Chennai, Nov 21 (UNI) The students' wing of the Opposition AIADMK will organise demonstrations in six cities in Tamil Nadu on November 23, protesting against the ''unhygenic'' and ''poor conditions'' in the hostels, run by the government, for school and college students.

Alleging that the hostels were in a ''pathetic condition'' and students faced the ''danger'' of falling victims to communicable diseases, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa, in a statement here today, said the agitation would be held in the Corporations of Chennai, Salem, Coimbatore, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai and Tirunelveli.

People were shocked to know that the students, the future of India, were made to stay in such hostels, where drinking water tanks looked like drainage tanks and sewage flowing in kitchens, she alleged.

Ms Jayalalithaa claimed that during her regime, she had provided ''five star facilities'' to these hostels and the students were extremely happy and could concentrate on their studies.

Party Treasurer O Panneerselvam would lead the agitation in Tirunelveli, while former Ministers D Jayakumar, Pollachi V Jayaraman, Party Organisation Secretay K Palanisamy, MGR Youth wing Secretary N R Sivapathy and Youth wing Secretary R P Udayakumar in Chennai, Coimbatore, Salem, Tiruchirapalli and Madurai respectively.
