Shimla, Nov 14 (UNI) A case has been registered against BJP's candidate from Lahaul Spiti Assembly constituency, Ram Lal Markanday, on the complaint of a woman who alleged that he threatened her with dire consequences.

The woman, owing allegiance to another party, alleged that the BJP leader barged into her house yesterday evening and threatened her with dire consequences for campaigning against him in the polls.

Following the incident, a few unidentified people threw stones at Mr Markanday's vehicle, a senior police official, requesting anonymity, told UNI here.

He said a case has been registered against Mr Markanday under Sections 147, 149, 451 and 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and investigations are on.

Refuting the allegations, the BJP leader said the registration of the case was the handiwork of the Congress, which was acting out of frustration since its candidate was losing the elections.

The BJP has also taken a strong exception to the registration of case against their leader.
