Drop Indo-US nuke deal: CPI(ML)

Puducherry, Nov 6: The local unit of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) has demanded that the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal be dropped.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the state conference of the party, CPI(ML) state secretary S Balasubramanian said in a statement here today.

Another resolution urged the territorial administration to drop it's proposed projects like special economic zone, airport at Karaikal and expansion of the port and Puducherry airport.

Other resolutions demanding a CBI probe into the alleged smuggling of rice, declaring Puducherry and Karaikal regions as flood-hit and provision of Rs 1,000 as relief and supply of 35 kg of rice every month to the BPL families here through the Public Distribution System were adopted at the conference.

Mr Balasubramanian was unanimoulsy elected as party secretary for another term at the conference.
