Three criminals of Rishi gang nabbed after encounter

Panipat, Nov 2 (UNI) Three criminals of notorious Rishi Gang were arrested by the police after a brief encounter near village Pathargarh in this district, while they were returning from Uttar Pradesh on motorcycles, police today said.

One criminal identified as Ramesh of Bhanswal village in Sonepat district under Gohana Sadar police station managed to escape under the darkness during the encounter on Wednesday night, Superintendent of Police M S Sheoran said.

The police have seized two unnumbered bikes, two country made pistols, two live cartridges, two fired cartridges from the possession of the criminals identified as Dinesh of Uplana in Karnal district, Khushi Ram of Beholi village and Kuldeep of Taharpur. After Registering a case under section 307, 34 of PC and 25/54/59 of the Arms Act, they were produced before the court and sent to police custody, the SP said.

He said during interrogation, they confessed their involvement in the murder of Dr Ved Parkash Nasa on September 10 at Smalkha, attempt to murder Suresh Bansal, the trader of Smalkha on September 13 to terrorise the local business community. They also confessed to have knifed a local woman on August 23.

Besides, they admitted to having stolen batteries of mobile tower from Shekhupura near Hansi and Mudlana in Gohana, the SP addded.
