Shimla, Oct 31 (UNI) The Election Commission has directed all the electors in tribal assemblies of Kinnaur, Bharmour and Lahaul and Spiti, to carry Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to exercise their votes on November 14, said spokesperson of the Election Department here today.
The spokesperson said that the election commission will, however permit those electors who have not been issued their Electoral Photo Identity Cards so far by election department to use other alternative documents like passport, driving license, income tax identity cards (PAN), service identity cards, documents of public sector banks/post office and Kisan passbooks, student identity cards issued by recognised educational institutions, property documents such as Pattas, registered deeds and ration cards and SC/ST/OBC certificates issued by competent authority.
Pension documents such as ex-servicemen's pension book/pension payment order, ex-servicemen's, widow/dependent certificates, old age pension order, widow pension order, freedom fighter identity cards, arms licenses, certificate of physical handicap by competent authority, copy of parivar register as maintained by Gram Panchayat/Urban Local Bodies like Municipal Committees and duly issued by Gram Panchayat and Vikas Adhikari/competent authorities, domicile certificate (Himachali Certificate) issued by a revenue officer like SDM/Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar will also be considered as proof for the voting purpose, the spokesperson added.
The spokesperson said all the above mentioned documents issued on or before September 30, 2007 will be considered only, she said.
All the electors of the Kinnaur, Bharmour and Lahaul and Spiti assembly constituencies have been appealed to take note of these directions of the EC and bring their Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) or any one of the above alternative documents on poll day of November, 14, she added.
