Pak urges opp to cooperate for fair polls
Islamabad, Oct 14: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan, Senator Muhammad Ali Durrani, urged the opposition to cooperate with the government in the formation of caretaker set up to hold free and fair general elections in the country.
He said the government wants to evolve maximum consensus for the formation of interim government in order to have credible general elections, adding that the opposition parties must play their role in forming the interim government, the media reported.
The minister further said the ruling coalition was strenghened post presidential elections and hoped that more parties would join the alliance in the general elections.
The popularity of President Pervez Musharraf has increased and the number of his opponents has decreased, he said. About the opposition, he said it has been weakened and was struggling for survival.
