Chennai, Oct 4 (UNI) Perlos Corporation, a leading global supplier of handset mechanics, today announced the inauguration of its manufacturing facility in Sriperumbudur near here.
Spread over 26,000 sq mt area in the Nokia Telecom SEZ and inaugurated by the Ambassador of Finland Asko Numminen and State Industries Secretary Shaktikanta Das, the first phase of the facility had been established at an investment of US Dollar 30 million.
''This exclusive facility will cater to the growing demand of mobile handsets as well as to the electronics manufacturing services companies in India,'' company MD Jarmo Kolehmainen told newspersons.
Perlos would initially cater to the needs of Nokia India and later to other customers in India as well as abroad, he said and explained that the construction of the Perlos facility in India had commenced in November 2006 and the first shipment was made during mid August 2007.
Mr Kolehmainen said ''India will be one of our key growth areas as it emerged as one of the top five telecom markets in the world.
One has to be near the end customer so that the volumes are directly dictated by the local demand.'' Mr Jarmo pointed out that Perlos Chennai unit would cover the entire product lifecycle - from product design to manufacturing, logistics and new product versions.
''The new facility will utilise all the core technologies of Perlos such as injection, moulding, assembling, painting, printing and metal stamping,'' he added.
