Chennai, Sep 25 (UNI) An Air Deccan flight to Visakhapatnam with 50 passengers on board today returned to the Chennai Airport due to failure of the air-conditioning system when the aircraft was in mid-air.
Airport sources said the flight took off at 0945 hrs here this morning and after being airborne for about 45 minutes, the air condition system in the flight failed.
As the passengers complained of suffocation, the Pilot contacted the Air Traffic Control and permission was given to bring back the flight to Chennai.
After the flight returned at 1100 hrs, the passengers were given first aid. Later, they staged a demonstration at the tarmac and also laid a siege to the Airport Manager's chamber, who pacified them and promised to accommodate them in other aircraft.
