Mumbai, Sep 21 (UNI) A local court today remanded Dharmaraj Ramnarayan Singh (35), arrested in connection with a land-grabbing case, in police custody till October 5.

Seeking his remand, the police told the court that Singh's involvement in the land-grabbing case was revealed during the interrogation of Iqbal Attarwala, an aide of mafia fugitive don Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, who was arrested earlier this month pon his arrival here from Dubai.

The police, therefore, has to interrogate Singh for which his latter's custody is needed, the police contended. Additional chief metropolitan magistrate S Y Shisode remanded Singh in police custody till October 5.

Earlier, arguing against the custody, defence advocate Bhanudas Jagtap contended that Singh had been in Mumbai since 2004 and his name had not figured in the testimony by the witnesses.

A 63-year-old city-based builder Ranchhodbhai Patel has implicated Attarwala and the others in the land-grabbing case.

According to the complaint lodged by him with the police, Patel has alleged that Attarwala and the others had tried to evict the tenants under threat from two plots of land that he had purchased in 2004.
