Opposition demands CM action on Vigilance Commission report

Hyderabad, Sep 16 (UNI) The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), BJP and Left parties today demanded that Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy initiate action against the ministers and officials, whose names figured in the Vigilance Commission report, submitted by the Retired Commissioner Samal recently.

Speaking to newspersons here, Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary K Narayana alleged that the ministers and senior officials, who were indulged in corruption, were criticising Mr Samal for mentioning their names in the report. Chief Minister should respond on the issue and take action against the ''corrupt'' officials, Mr Narayana added.

CPI(M) State leader B V Raghavulu demanded that the Government should suspend the corrupt officials and sack the corrupt ministers from the State Cabinet. Dr Reddy should also respond on the issue and make his statement on the remarks made by Mr Samal, Mr Raghavulu added.

Demanding that the Government convene an all party meeting to discuss the report, the TDP senior leader T Devender Goud said the Government should clarify the allegations levelled by Mr Samal against the ministers.

The BJP former President M Venkaiah Naidu demanded that the Government should order a probe into the issue under a sitting High Court Judge.
