Srinagar, Sep 13 (UNI) The Drug and Food Control Organisation in Jammu and Kashmir today claimed that it has sealed seven unlicensed retail drug outlets in the Valley following complaints.

A spokesman of the department said the action has been taken on the basis of complaints received from the people through the recently launched helpline.

Under helpline, he said the aggrieved citizens could register complaints against the sale of sub-standard drugs, operation of unlicensed drug outlets, overcharging of price, substitution of medicines, sale of psychotropic drugs without prescription.

The spokesman said in the first week of this September, 11 complaints were received. Out of these, seven complaints were found to be correct and their premises were subsequently sealed, he added.

The spokesman said the inquiry into four other complaints was still incomplete. Earlier last month, the department sealed nine such unlicensed shops, he added.
