Salaries released, SRTC employees call off strike

Jammu, Sep 12 (UNI) After a nine-day long agitation, the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Association (SRTC) employees called off their strike as the government finally released their three months salaries yesterday.

According to sources, a delegation of SRTC employees headed by chairman Amrik Singh and president Ashok Mehra participated in a meeting held at Srinagar yesterday and three-month salaries of agitating employees were released.

The pending two months wages will be released on the festival of Id, sources added. However, Minister for Transport Hakim Mohd Yasin said that they have agreed with most of their demands and three months' salary is being released from tomorrow onwards and the pending salary will also be paid shortly.

The other demands of the employees regarding clearance of SRO-43 cases, conduct of DPC have also been considered, he said.

Meanwhile the Executive Committee members called off their strike last evening.
