Mahima Choudhury, Romeo Gates win Gladrags Megamodel,Manhunt contest

Mumbai, Apr 8 (UNI) In a glittering function held at the Bombay Dyeing Spring Mills, Wadala, here, Mahima Choudhury from Pune and Romeo Gates from London were crowned with the Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt crowns respectively.

Shweta Bharadwaj from New Delhi and Nachiket Samant from Pune were the second runner-ups whereas Ambika Ragbir from New York and Kaiomurz Chindhy from Pune were the first runner-ups in the function held yesterday.

The two winners of the Mega Model and Manhunt contest will compete in the 'Best Model of the World' and 'Manhunt International', 'Miss Intercontinental' and 'Top Model of the World' contests.

The first runner-ups will participate in the 'Best Asian Model' and the 'Miss Tourism International' and 'Mr Tourism International' contests. Not just the winners will represent India at International pageants but at least five other boys and five other girls will be sent to participate in other prestigious contests.

The Gladrags Mega Model and Manhunt contest is a very unique pageant and the only unisex contest in the world. The contest this year has witnessed 20 young girls and 21 boys vying for the extremely prestigious titles. Over the last four months, the all India selections for the model has been done by Ms Maureen Wadia and her team.

On the occasion, Ms Maureen Wadia said '' It gives me great pleasure to see that the models I have chosen are doing so well.'' The other awardees include: Mr and Miss Congeniality - Miss Ethiel Konyak from Nagaland and Mr Mitlesh Kamat from Mumbai; Most Photogenic - Anondo Ghosh and Vinitha Menon; Most Potential - Dipaali Singh and Piyush Wadhwani; Best Body - Ambika Ragbir and Karan Singh.

The judges for the event included Ms Maureen Wadia, Dino Morea, Koena Mitra, Ms Kiron Kher, Laila Khan Rajpal, Nandita Mahtani, Naresh Rawal, Paritosh Joshi, Rohit Bal and Manish Malhotra. The host of the evening was Sajid Khan.

The contestants this year were a true mix of the youth of India.

They hailed from New York, New Delhi, Los Angeles, Nagaland, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ujjain, Indore, Pune, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Vancouver, Canada, Mangalore, and Mumbai.

Some of the previous winners of the Gladrags contest are Aishwarya Rai, Shamoly Verma, Koena Mitra, John Abraham, Kelly Dorjee, Lisa Ray and Meher Jessia to name a few.

The deferred telecast of the contest will be telecast on Star One on at 2200 hours on Sunday, April 14. There are two curtain raiser programmes that will be shown prior to the contest telecast, at 1800 hrs on April 13 and 14.
