Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 22 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today quoted from Bhagavat Gita, surprising the students of Sri Satya Sai Instute of Higher Learning who knew him only as a scientist.

Addressing students of the deemed university at the convocation here, Dr Kalam, while advising them to develop values along with learning, stated the purpose of human life was beautifully described in 'Bhagavat Gita.' ''In the battle scene, where Arjuna is hesitating to fight against his own kith and kin in Kurushetra, Lord Krishna shows Arjuna a vision of Vrindavan where the whole garden is blossoming with beautiful flowers and fragrance attracting honeybees. It is an enchanting scene.'' ''In another vision of the garden, all the flowers which blossomed in the morning now fall to the ground. Lord Krishna tells Arjuna, 'see the flower, how generously it distributes perfume and honey. It gives to all, gives freely its essence. When its work is done, it falls away quietly. Try to be like the flower, unassuming despite all its qualities,'' the President told the youngsters amidst thunderous applause.

Dr Kalam said Lord Krishna conveyed this message to humanity. It was applicable to every human being and particularly to students.
