Shinde calls for pro-active role in eradicating terrorism

Jalandhar, Oct 29 (UNI) Union Energy Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde today called upon the people to play an pro-active role in eradicating menace of terrorism from the country.

Speaking at the 96th relief disbursement function organised by Punjab Kesari Group's Shaheed Parivar Fund here today, Mr Shinde said that people's active participation is must in the anti terrorism campaign and therefore the people should resolve for eradicating the menace completely from the country.

''Time and again India had guided humanity right from the anicient era and people of the country should once again take lead to show the world the right path,'' he said.

A galaxy of dignitaries, including Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (retd) SK Sinha, Shiromani Akali Dal president and former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar, former Union Ministers Anant Kumar and Chiman Lal Gupta, Congress state president Shamsher Singh Dullo, BJP state president Avinash Rai Khanna, CPI state president Jagrup Singh, Punjab Kesari Group's Chief Editor Vijay Kumar Chopra, Rajasthan Patrika Group's Editor Gulab Kothari, Punjab Parliamentary Secretary Raj Kumar Verka, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh's son Ran Inder Singh and Chief Minister's Advisor BIS Chahal also participated in the function.

Ex-gratia and relief material, worth over Rs 19 lakh were distributed among 133 families of terrorism victims of Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has also sanctioned Rs 10 lakh for the Shaheed Parivar Fund. The chief minister's decision was conveyed at the function by his son Mr Ran Inder Singh.
