Dr Narendra Jadhav to be the new VC of Pune University
Mumbai, July 30 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna in his capacity as the Chancellor of the universities in the State, has appointed Dr Narendra Jadhav, Principal Adviser and Chief Economist, Department of Economic Analysis and Policy, Reserve Bank of India as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Pune for a term of five years.
The appointment will come into effect from the date he assumes the charge of the office of the Vice Chancellor.
An internationally acclaimed authority on Macroeconomics with special interests in financial and monetory sector issues, 53-year-old Dr Jadhav has earlier served as Adviser to Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and as Secretary to the Central Board, Reserve Bank of India.
After obtaining his B.Sc. with Statistics as principal subject, Dr Jadhav did his MA in Economics from the University of Mumbai (1975) by securing First Class with specialization in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University in USA (1986). For nearly three decades he has been associated with applied economic research including as the head of economic research of the RBI for over five years.
Dr Jadhav has guided two RBI officials pursuing research in Economics for obtainig Ph.D. from IIT Mumbai. He has 15 books and over 100 articles to his credit.
