Suspended AIFB MLA unrelenting; secures Court Stay

Madurai, Mar 4 (UNI) Suspended All India Forward Bloc legislator, L Santhanam, seeking for an alliance with the ruling AIADMK for the assembly elections, today claimed that he alone represented the party in Tamil Nadu.

Addressing newsspersons here, the legislator said he had secured a court stay against his suspension from the primary membership of the AIFB.

A city court, which granted the interim injunction, in its order restrained the Central Committee from preventing Mr Santhanam's right of membership and his activities as General Secretary of the state unit.

Asked about his desire for an alliance with the AIADMK, he pointed out that it was only a reiteration of what party General Secretary Debrabrata Biswas had earlier written to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. Ironically, the party leadership itself was now striving for a pact with the AIADMK, he added.

He alleged that film actor and party State President M Karthik, had exposed his inexperience within a short span of time by ignoring all elected leaders at the grassroot level.

He further charged Karthik with collecting money for nominating people to various posts in the party.

Mr Santhanam also alleged that Mr Karthik, had issued a show-cause notice on the flimsy charge of not arranging an air-conditioned room for his stay in the city.
