Virat Kohli breaks Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar records in Australia

Sydney, Jan 31: India's best batsman at the moment, Virat Kohli scaled another high when he surpassed batting legends Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Kohli enjoyed a great run of form with the bat on the limited overs tour to Australia, which concluded on Sunday (January 31).

Another record for Virat Kohli

On the final day of the memorable trip, the 27-year-old registered his 3rd consecutive half century of the Twenty20 International series against the hosts.

He scored 50 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) today to cap off an excellent tour Down Under. India notched up a historic 3-0 whitewash over the hosts.

Today's 50 was 7th such score of fifty or more during the Australian tour for Kohli. This was a new mark for an Indian batsman. Kohli broke the record of 6 half centuries (all formats combined) in an Australian international tour by former greats Gavaskar and Tendulkar.

In the 5-match ODI rubber, which India lost 1-4, Kohli had scores of 91, 59, 117, 106 and 8. In T20Is his 3 visits to the crease fetched him 90 not out, 59 not out and 50. His tally of 199 runs in the shortest version of the game won him the Man-of-the-Series award.

Also during this tour, Kohli became the fastest to reach 7,000 ODI runs and 25 hundreds in the 50-over format.

The Delhi batsman, having already broken several records since making debut in international cricket in 2008, is on way to scale more highs.
