After the World Cup, the 26-year-old made a premium move to La Liga giant Real Madrid for a lump sum €70million from Monaco, however, his career over there did not reach the highest level.

He started his Real days well enough under then manager Carlo Ancelotti, scoring 17 goals and adding 16 assists across all competitions. But after Ancelotti's exit the situation changed and new boss Zidane did not provide the attacker much game-time.

He only started 13 matches last season in the league but still with limited opportunities, he provided six assists and scored eight goals.

For a better game-time, the 26-year-old finally left the Los Blancos to complete a two-year loan move to Bayern Munich and reunited with his former manager.

James is currently in China for pre-season with Bayern Munich and the 26-year-old revealed in a recent interview that he is now determined to establish himself as one of the game's greats and want to improve Messi and Ronaldo, who have ruled World football for much of the last decade.

He said when was asked about taking thrones from them: "Why not? [Messi and Ronaldo] are big players. I'll be ready for what happens in the future and improve in world football."

He also insisted that he knows his place is not guaranteed in the Bayern line-up given the squad Carlo has but he is ready to fight for every minute in the Bavarian shirt.

"We have big players at Bayern and the competition for the team is very intense," he said.

"I have to win my place through training hard every day. I want more minutes and more success [than last season].

"It's a unique club, with the obligation of winning trophies and I hope it continues next season."

James will continue their pre-season tour in Singapore next against Premier league Champion Chelsea on 25th July and will be craving to come back to winning ways after their thumping 4-0 defeat against AC Milan on Saturday(22th July).
