Wellington, March 21: Can Chis Gayle do a Brian Lara in today's match in the World Cup? New Zealand opener Martin Guptill on Saturday broke the dashing Caribbean opener's 215 scored against Zimbabwe in a group match at Canberra earlier in this edition to post the highest score of 237 not out.

Now can Chris Gayle break it again to regain his crown? The West Indies will need a super-human effort from 35-year-old Gayle if they hope to win the quarter-final match against the Kiwis. Boosted by Guptill's 163-ball-237, New Zealand set a massive target of 394 before the Caribbeans in the match.

Brian Lara had snatched back his crown from Matthew Hayden in Tests

Former West Indian batsman Brian Lara had achieved the feat of regaining his batting record in Tests in April 2004 when he broke the record of Australia's Matthew Hayden to become the highest scorer in Tests again. Hayden had scored 380 against Zimbabwe a year earlier at Perth to eclipse Lara's 375 not out scored against England at St John's in 1994. Lara had hit the 375 to better the record of his compatriot Sir Garry Sobers (365*).
