Colombo, Feb 18: Fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who missed the recent Twenty20 International series against India due to injury, has returned to captain Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup and World T20.

On Thursday (February 18), Malinga was appointed as the team's skipper for both the tournaments. Asia Cup will be held in Bangladesh from February 24 while World T20 starts on March 8 in India.
Also returning to the squad are all-rounder Angelo Mathews, spinner Rangana Herath and paceman Nuwan Kulasekara. The injured trio had missed the India series, which the Islanders lost 1-2. From the India tour squad, Dilhara Fernando, Asela Gunaratne, Kasun Rajitha, Danushka Gunathilaka and Binura Fernando were dropped.
Dinesh Chandimal, who captained in India series is part of the 15-man squad. Mathews will be the vice-captain. Sri Lanka are the defending champions of both Asia Cup and World T20.
