1. Lendl Simmons
The West Indies batsman will open the Mumbai Indians' innings against Pune in the opening game and team would hope he plays his aggressive brand of cricket.
Simmons was the top scorer for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2015 and helped the side lift the IPL trophy for the second time after defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final.
2. Parthiv Patel
The Gujarat batsman had a decent domestic season in 2016-17. The left-handed batsman will be opening alongside Simmons against Pune.
Parthiv is known for playing aggressively and take quick singles. The diminutive wicket-keeper batsman keeps the scoreboard ticking. Patel would want to have a better show with bat in the IPL for it may help him to book a ticket to Champions Trophy 2017 as second stumper for Team India.
3. Rohit Sharma
The charismatic skipper of the Mumbai Indians will strengthen the middle order of his team in the tournament.
Coming after an injury, Rohit would be eager to get into the grooves and add some runs into his account early on in the tournament to set the pace.
Mumbai have done exceptionally well under Rohit's leadership and the fans would be hoping their favourite side start their campaign with a win.
After MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir, Rohit is the third captain to have lifted the IPL trophy twice and lead his side from the front.
4. Ambati Rayudu
The 32-year-old aggressive batsman has been a prolific run-getter for the Mumbai Indians since his early days. Rayudu has been a consistent performer for the side.
Rayudu has been a match-winner for the team and he would be hoping to play some good knocks in the tournament and draw the attention of selectors before Champions Trophy squad gets picked up.
5. Jos Buttler
The 26-year-old wicketkeeper batsman from England is another lethal weapon in the Mumbai arsenal.
An explosive batsman in the middle-order, Butter is capable of dislodging the ball towards boundary rope at will.
Team management would expect him to be at his menacing best in this season.
6. Keiron Pollard
He's another impact player and match winner for the franchise in the IPL.
Ever since his induction into the Mumbai Indians squad, this big-hitting West Indies batsman and wicket-taking pacer has established himself as an asset.
Smith and Company would have to be vary of him in game tonight.
7. Hardik Pandya
The young India all-rounder didn't have a good IPL season last year.
The Baroda cricketer impressed all with his brilliance in the post-IPL 9 period and would therefore be hoping to prove his potential in the tenth edition before Champions Trophy 2017. He has also worked on his bowling skills and is generating good speed. He, thus, brings an option of playing an extra speedster to the side.
8. Harbhajan Singh
The veteran India discard will be leading team's spin attack against Pune in their opening game.
Harbhajan has been a consistent wicket-taker for the Mumbai Indians from the first season. The Turbanator loves batting and he's capable of hitting big shots lower down the order.
9. Krunal Pandya
Krunal impressed all with this all-round performance last year. His performance was better than his younger brother Hardik.
The left-arm orthodox spinner and left-handed batsman scored 237 runs in 12 games last year.
Krunal would be desperate to better his performance this year to draw the attention of selectors towards him.
10. Mitchell Johnson
The 35-year-old former Australia quick is an asset to any side he plays for and that's why Mumbai Indians shelled out a whopping sum of Rs 2 crore to get his services.
He will be Mumbai's strike bowler till the time Lasith Malinga joins the team.
11. Jasprit Bumrah
This Indian version of Lasith Malinga has been an irreplaceable asset to the side. Bumrah will be eager to hone his wicket-taking skills ahead of Champions Trophy 2017.
Mumbai would rely heavily upon Bumrah in the death overs due to his miserly performance and ability to bowl yorkers at will.
